FSU School of Theater Presents: Guys and Dolls
Guys and Dolls is a Broadway musical classic, with music and lyrics by Frank Loesser, and a story line based off of a book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows, as well as two short stories by Damon Runyon. The musical has been revived several times since its premiere in 1950, and this month only the Florida State University School of Theater is bringing it to life on the FSU stage!
“Bustling with gamblers, missionaries, and sassy showgirls, this classic Broadway musical, which many believe is the greatest musical ever created, follows the unlikeliest of romantic pairings. A notorious gambler attempts to woo a straight-laced, Save-a-Soul mission doll in hopes of winning a bet. Meanwhile, after waiting 14 years, a lamenting showgirl wants to finally drag her fiancé to the alter. Place your bets on love conquering all in this hilarious Broadway classic featuring a bushel of songs you know and love.” 1

The cast is riddled with undoubtedly talented individuals who sing and dance straight into our hearts, and along with inventive directing and creative choices that still remained true to the musical, there was never a dull moment when watching this upbeat production.
Lively musical numbers, mischievous personalities that you can’t help but grow fond of, and refreshing romances between the unlikeliest of characters, this is an excellent musical to enjoy with friends and family. But time is limited, so go out and see it while you still can!
